"Crash Into Me" is a song by American rock group Dave Matthews Band. It was released in December 1996 as the fourth single from their album ''Crash''. It reached number 7 on the US ''Billboard'' Modern Rock Tracks chart in March 1997. It is also featured on Dave Matthews Band's first compilation album, ''The Best of What's Around Vol. 1''. The song was nominated for Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals at the 1998 Grammy Awards. ==Background and writing== Dave Matthews wrote Crash into Me on the campus of Sweet Briar College in Sweet Briar, Virginia. The inspiration for the song stemmed from his wife, Ashley Harper, who is an alumna of the College. In his performance on ''VH1 Storytellers'', Dave Matthews described this song as being about "the worship of women", albeit from a voyeur's perspective, and subsequently does a humorous impression of the woman being watched through the window complaining to the police. He ends by saying that he wrote this song instead of getting arrested. In the 2010 documentary "The Road to Big Whiskey", Matthews explained that most of "Crash into Me" was inspired by his wife, Ashley Harper, whom he described as "the love of his life".
